Delete your account
Applies to the MoneyBuddy app (developer: Maconnell Balderas)
You can delete your MoneyBuddy account and its associated data at any time. There are two ways to do it.
In the app (fastest)
- Open MoneyBuddy and sign in.
- Go to Settings → About and scroll to the account section.
- Tap Delete account and confirm. You will be asked to re-enter your password (or an MFA code) to authorize it.
Deletion takes effect immediately: your account is closed, any linked bank connections are disconnected through Plaid, and your sign-in is revoked.
By email
If you can't access the app, email support@moneybudy.net from the address on your account with the subject “Account deletion request.” We will verify ownership of the address and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your account record and email address.
- Your login identities (email and any linked Google or Apple sign-in).
- Linked bank connections and all synced balances, transactions, and holdings.
- Circle / shared-money memberships you own, merchant rules, and bills.
- Consent records, sessions, and account audit rows for your user.
What is retained, and for how long
- On-device data — guest plans, drafts, favorites, theme, and currency live only on your device and are not touched by account deletion. Clear the app's storage or uninstall to remove them.
- Limited security and transaction logs — non-sensitive operational metadata may be retained for a short period for fraud prevention, security, and legal compliance, then purged on the normal retention schedule.
- Plaid — disconnecting revokes MoneyBuddy's access and deletes our copy of that institution's data. Plaid's own retention is governed by Plaid's policies.
